Joshua and his wife, Alyssa, are from Bastrop Texas, have been married for 14 years, and are raising 3 girls and 1 boy whom they also homeschool. They enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, and movie and tv trivia. Alyssa is an aspiring romance novel writer and is currently working on 2 books at various stages in the 1st draft process. After being a stay at home parent for 9 years, she now works in retail management. Joshua has served in various capacities within several local church organizations ranging from kids church, adult teaching ministries, youth ministries, and worship arts and media, to name a few. His primary role for the last 21 years has been as an itinerant worship leader. Joshua has worked as a small business consultant for various faith based and commercial business, implementing and teaching Kingdom principles for growth, leadership, and organizational development. Together, Joshua & Alyssa have started and closed three home churches in the past 10 years. All of which successfully served to help transition the families involved into a larger local community church during the right time and season.From 2013 to 2018 the Hickmans lived in the Waco Texas area while Joshua served in the US Army for 4 years, and as a Staff Worship Pastor for 1 year, and Itinerant Worship Leading for 1 year. In 2018 they moved back to their hometown of Bastrop Texas where Joshua joined the staff of Celebration Community Church (the church they both grew up in) to assist the, then, struggling ministry to grow from 40 people to approximately 200 people in the course of 2 years. During which time Joshua served as a staff member in multiple capacities from social media pastor to Kids Church to Worship and Family Life Ministries. His primary function was process improvement, implementation of creative growth strategies, strategic planning, worship Leading, and social media marketing. He then transitioned to work for the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop to help develop their 9:45am Modern Service, prior to applying for the Senior Pastor position at New Life Church in Okanogan. Joshua is a lifelong learner with several ministry school certificates and is now working towards his Masters of Theology at Crown Institute of Theology. Joshua's mission in life is to help people identify and live out their God-given passion in this life with joy and wisdom. The whole Hickman Family is excited and overjoyed to finally be in Okanogan County where they dream of planting roots for generations to come.
